Phantom 2 – A dangerous and faulty drone
Phantomazos para DJI
HIGH INTEREST FOR Phantom2 USERS
Serious defects not assumed by DJI – NO Warranty anyway
I was one of the first users to have a DJI Phantom I in my country, and made hundreds of risk tasks and serious flights (inside Sagrada Familia, Montserrat, etc).
Hundreds of flights without any problems, nor Flyaways or loss of control, or battery discharged in seconds. Still part of my fleet, and still perfectly operational.
When DJI present the Phantom2 and 3-axis gimbal, I was also among the first to buy it, with all the original accessories of DJI (MiniOSD, Gimbal, Video TX, propeller saver).
Soon after start using it, the Phantom 2 began to present intermittent problems. Literally lost force (with full battery) and fell sharply.
Displaying committed my work, contact the dealer and bought new batteries, re-calibrate compass, etc, etc ... I kept failing randomly and ended in disaster.
To eradicate the problem, I bought a 2nd unit Phantom 2 more batteries ... but the problem was repeating itself.
Alarmed contact technical support DJI Europe and I explained the problem to them, accompanying the attached video and all the explanations asked me in an endless string of messages, forwarding, and senseless comments.
I finally got to send one Phantom2 unit for RMA to Germany. After more than six months I received an official answer to the problem: the DJI Phantom 2 + MiniOSD + Video TX + PropSaver + Zenmuse + Gopro, exceeds MTOW or maximum takeoff weight.
My fault as pilot not verify the information, because I trusted the manufacturer that distributed its products to function at unison.
The problem is that 95% of users are unaware of this detail and do not perform this check, you may end up in an accident.
Although DJI aware of this common problem, and others as the "hang" suffered some controllers Naza, does not warn users and makes Phantom2 potentially dangerous vehicles.
As much as I tried to clarify the information DJI, explain that I saved my P2 many intermittent accidents, and finally the gimbal was affected: no responsibility or guarantee asumed.
The Phantom 2 I sent for review to Germany, has been processed as a failure and have directly charged to the dealer for repair of the equipment.
With the large number of Phantom 2 have been sold around the world, it is understandably unwilling to recognize DJI problems requiring expensive replacements or disabling its equipment to fly.
I hope new Phantom 3 has solved all the problems. Interestingly it has a new system of smart batteries, higher power, and flight controller radically different.
Just released the trailer for a movie where the protagonist Phantom2. Obviously it's a comedy of fear, as I have lived with DJI SAT and Phantom2.
Take note if you have a Phantom2, and be careful at any time can fall and DJI, don’t assume nothing.
